In the beginning mobile was hyped greatly and there were failures; we have, for example, engaged with a client who was on their third attempt to get a mobile solution working. As a result, some wariness and resistance has accompanied negative perceptions. The barriers are coming down, though. Connectivity is greatly improved with GPRS and 3G, while the convergence of the cellphone and the PDA has resulted in far more capable devices. Today, businesspeople are carrying mobile devices which are in many cases more sophisticated and powerful than the PCs of the 1990s.
