South Africans often claim to be an inventive bunch. What with having carried out the world’s first heart transplant, developed the technology that turns coal into fuel and come up with the Kreepy Krauly, Dolos and Pratley’s Putty, used by Nasa in the rockets sending astronauts to the moon, there’s a lot to boast about.
But these all came about over 50 years ago. Could South Africa be running out of innovative new ideas that could change the world?
