Surgery for Sita

Government’s IT agency is up for a radical facelift as new Public Service and Administration Minister Richard Baloyi looks to bring the agency to order.

09 August 2009

The Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA) says it will soon announce a turnaround strategy for the embattled State IT Agency (Sita), which has been plagued by numerous issues since its inception a decade ago.

Since the departure of former public service and administration minister Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi towards the end of last year, Sita has been under scrutiny by the DPSA. Current minister Richard Baloyi has acknowledged that serious problems are affecting the agency and has vowed to take a tough stance to “reposition Sita as government’s IT service provider of choice”.
