Whether you like it or not, there are some things about the security landscape that don’t change. Technology is evolving and with it, the cybercriminals who are getting increasingly sophisticated with their attack methods. In order for businesses to be proactive, they either need enterprise-grade security or dedicated teams that can monitor and respond to potential threats in real-time. So, while it’s relatively easy for bigger organisations with resources to pay for expensive and complex security solutions, SMBs are often left stranded. More so when research from the National Cyber Security Alliance shows that 60% of SMBs that suffer a cyberattack will go out of business within six months.

“There are 3 500 point products [standalone security tools] out there and this number continues to grow daily. There isn’t a company on the planet, no matter how large or small, that has seven different point products working together successfully and where it appears that they do, it’s usually because they have an army of security professionals trying to stitch them together,” says Raffaele Mautone, the founder and CEO of Judy Security. With a background of two decades in cybersecurity at companies like McAfee, FireEye and Duo Security (which was acquired by Cisco for $2.35 billion in cash), Mautone understands that you cannot expect customers to buy seven point products and stitch them together. “So that’s where the idea started – how could we create a platform, not a point product, and insert AI in the middle of this as the heart,” he says.
