Half the world's population and billions of devices will get a mobile internet connection by 2020, says Ericsson. Get ready.

The next ten years will see more devices than people connect to mobile networks. That was the claim made by senior executives from Swedish telecoms giant Ericsson and guest speakers at the company’s Business Innovation Forum held in Stockholm in June.

As Ericsson’s yachts were about to set off for St Petersburg to clinch the overall title for the Volvo Round The World race, so its sponsors were explaining how they’re planning for another race: how to drive and profit from the explosion in mobile broadband using technologies such as IP-TV, home media fabrics and multi-hundred megabit cellular download speeds.
