The days of the Wild West are long gone, but the Competition Commission’s inquiry into online marketplaces is beginning to resemble the famed gunfight at the OK Corral, which claimed the lives of three cowboys, shot dead by Wyatt Earp and fellow lawmen.
As the commission prepares to hold further hearings (this time in-camera), three big tech platforms – Takealot, UberEats and Mr D – which have already faced intense questioning from the commission, will be feeling the heat.
