RDB Consulting's success is due, in part, to the directors' hands-on approach and involvement with staff. Jaroslav Cerny, the database and operating system outsourcing and consulting company's managing director, says clients are often surprised to see either him or technical director Craig Moir on-site with the company's consultants.

"We don't play golf," he laughs. Instead, he and Moir prefer to get involved with staff and find it lifts people's spirits. "If we see there's a problem that's taking the consultants all night to finish, we won't necessarily help to fix the issue, but we'll be out buying pizza, trying to boost morale," he says.
