South Africa has the potential to become a prime outsourcing destination in business process outsourcing, call centres and IT services, say Nic Laschinger, MD of emerging technology trainers ‘The Next Big Thing`, and Keryn House, CEO of local call centre body ContactinGauteng.

“There`s no reason why SA cannot become a huge player in the IT outsourcing market, considering the exchange rate, and our vast amount of untapped talent,” says Laschinger.

He believes India`s government has set the example with their successful training programmes, projects now reaping rewards with large numbers of Indian IT consultants used by US corporations looking to outsource to reduce costs.
