Leonora Tima

Leonora Tima is the managing director at Gender Rights in Tech or “GRIT”, previously known as “Kwanele – Bringing Women Justice”. She’s responsible for fundraising, reporting and staff oversight.

The organisation develops and deploys technology in the fight against gender-based violence (GBV), and promotes access to justice for survivors. This is done through a collection of tools like the GRIT mobile app, which not only offers a panic button-style function, but data free evidence storage. The organisation also operates a GRIT WhatsApp line and has a pro bono legal advice team, and an AI-powered chatbot called Zuzi, designed to guide survivors through the legal system in an accessible way.
