Not my problem

The data centre of the future can be whatever it likes, as long as it delivers the services I need, when I need them and where i need them.

While companies may be hanging on to their data, and their old data centres, for dear life here in sunny SA, worldwide the trend is to outsource to those who specialise in such things. Just down the road, Mauritius is taking advantage of this. Says Mauritius Board of Investment corporate development head Mahen Govinda:

“Mauritius is investing heavily in developing next generation data centres as it is an ideal location for African companies to host data services due to the skills available on the island and the investments made into technology over recent years. One such project is the Mauritius Land-based Oceanographic Park (MLOP) project, which will host the world’s first green data centres cooled by sea water. This will offer cost savings and maximise efficiency and uptime in the data centre. This data centre project will be used to position Mauritius as a cyber island that will serve as an info-communications hub in the SADC region.”
