Clearly ambitious

There’s no clear winner in the telecoms industry’s OS process automation, but Clarity is inching ahead.

10 March 2009

Clarity International, established in 1994 and based in Sydney, Australia, is striving to make the operating support system (OSS) process automation space its own. It’s attempting to achieve this by providing an integrated software offering that streamlines the 17 eTOM elements of OSS into a single suite. eTOM refers to the full scope of business processes required by a telecommunications service provider and is analogous to ITIL in IT. This, in turn, lowers the total cost of ownership (TCO) for any telecoms company and significantly streamlines its operations.

The company was founded and is run by Tony Kalcina, a 25-year veteran of the global telecoms industry, whose career has included a ten-year stint at Telstra, Australia. In South Africa, Clarity is represented by Powertech IST, a member of the Altron stable.
