VMware seems to be a company constantly on the move, and there was certainly a big shift this year when Broadcom said it wanted to acquire it for $61 billion in cash and stock after VMware split from Dell in 2021.

Will it be business as usual, especially since Broadcom has acquired companies in the past, among them Symantec and CA, and then broken them up to better serve the larger entity? Still, these two companies were nowhere near as profitable as VMware, and showed little signs of growing their market share.
