The National Framework for Sustainable Development, scheduled for release in September, provides a guide of what South Africa must do to meet the goals set at the WSSD in 2002. The WSSD, where 180 countries were represented, resulted in the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation (JPOI), which obliged states to come up with strategies for implementing sustainable development goals.
