AN ELDERLY WOMAN DRAWS HER STATE PENSION FROM an ATM situated on the main street of a small rural town before crossing the road to spend it at one of the three stores operated by major supermarket chains.
The money, brought to the town in armoured vehicles to be dispensed by one of the four major banks, literally travels a few metres across the street before getting paid over to the coffers of the supermarket chain store, and is then, for the most part, shifted out of town again.
