Kameela Pansary is Business Manager to the Interim Group Information and Technology Officer. “Having the opportunity to work in technology has opened my mind to a different world. I interpret the technology space as being the bank’s brain and heart. It’s essential that things work optimally here, in order for customer service delivery to take place,” she says. She would love to see more women joining the technology workspace, and says that while a lot of people believe you have to be a ‘techie’ to work in technology, there are many different positions, and so much scope for innovation within the space.

A highlight that shaped Pansary’s career path was being nominated for a GIBS leadership programme in 2006. As a single parent, she had to balance work, home life with small children, as well as the intensive afterhours GIBS programme. “It was then that I realised how competitive I was. I was placed in one of 25 syndicate groups completing the course, and I started comparing all our marks, aiming for our syndicate to be the one that graduated with the highest marks, which we did. Being part of the top syndicate in this challenging programme was a major stepping stone in my career. It boosted my confidence and gave me the appetite to grow and achieve more.”
