Hey Alexa, where's dearly departed Gogo?
Technology will soon give the dead a voice again.

I recently rewatched Transcendence, the 2014 transhumanism sci-fi movie in which Johnny Depp transfers his consciousness into a computer. It's hard to believe that a movie less than a decade old already seems outdated (it's still good, though). Back then, we wondered if AI super-intelligence would take over the world. Today, we're asking DALL·E to draw Elon Musk riding a dinosaur in Hobbiton.
But life might still imitate art, although not quite as envisioned. In Transcendence, they put human consciousness into a machine. Soon, you'll be able to do the opposite: have a machine mimic a human! Deep fakes are becoming increasingly common, such as a recent video clip from 1984's The Terminator replacing Arnie with Sylvester Stallone. Amazon's Alexa does the same – only it mimics the voices of loved ones.
