2024 was the year of wearable computers

AI and robotics attracted all the hype. But wearables became mainstream.

In 2024, I became an uncle. My brother and sister-in-law welcomed a healthy baby girl. Like true middle-aged parents with disposable income, they fretted over every detail, sparing little expense to ensure their new baby had the best support that gadgets could provide.

For example, they imported a smart sock. This sock is impressive. It slips onto the baby’s foot and sends vital information like oxygen levels and heart rate to a vibrant plastic box. The box has a prominent light that changes colour based on the baby’s condition and can sound several loud alarms in case something seems wrong.
