Monique Rissen-Harrisberg, CEO of The Voice Clinic, says it`s a tried and tested technique that most good speakers use. “Of course it`s used not only by politicians, but by anyone who wants to deliver a persuasive message in a speech or presentation,” she says.

Rissen-Harrisberg notes that many speakers do just the opposite – they increase the volume to try to make a point.
