Thank you for the music...

Theatres are playing it safe by bringing big-name musicals to the stage.

And who can blame them, when deep dramas or lesser-known productions sometimes see the cast outnumbering the audience? Still, the shows coming in the next few weeks promise to be a great night out even if you don’t need to take your intellect along. And after a hard day at the office, sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

My top choice is the fabulous Tap Dogs, which blew me away the first time it was staged. It’s back, with the promise of being faster, louder and more outrageous than before. Ladies, better book your tickets because these sexy tap-dancing muscle-men are delicious, and chosen from among the best tap dancers around the world. Actually, it’s a perfect family show, making music out of dustbins, hammers, scaffolding and all the other bits and bobs found on a building site. It’s seriously infectious and brimming with superb rhythms and humour, as the men leap through scaffolding and dance upside down.
