From a background in information systems and programming, Christo Vrey joined the recently-formed Absa in 1993. Two years later he was involved in its e-banking division and was part of the small team that launched South Africa’s first Internet Banking offering.
Vrey is now Managing Executive of Absa Digital Channels, one of the group’s fastest-growing business units. His team is poised to pass the one million mark in Internet banking customers, and the half-million mark in cellphone banking users.
