The IT Personality of the Year and CSSA Fellowship awards are presented by the Computer Society of South Africa (CSSA), in association with ITWeb, Gartner Africa and the Gordon Institute of Business Science. This year marked the CSSA`s 50th anniversary in the country.

Now in its 29th year, the IT Personality of the Year award recognises an individual who has made an exceptional contribution to the industry in the past year. This year, members of the local IT community nominated their favourite candidates, who were then narrowed down to ten nominees. The selection process for the award combines online public nominations and voting, with in-depth interviews conducted by a panel of judges, namely:
