When Old Mutual’s Group Direct Sales (GDS) division ran into challenges surrounding the delivery of timeous and reliable management information, it partnered with the PBT Group to design and implement an end-to-end, multi-sourced data warehouse and Business Intelligence (BI) reporting solution based on the SAS 9 BI platform architecture and software.

BREAKING NEW GROUND

The traditional route to market for most long-term or ‘life’ insurers has been through an extensive network of broker intermediaries. But more recently, some organisations have started to use new sales channels such as contact centres and the Web to take a more direct approach to market. In the case of Old Mutual, this had led to the creation of a completely new division – Group Direct Sales (GDS) – specifically structured to interface directly with the group’s customer base.
