As we begin to grasp just what a big mess we have made of the world, the question is on many a mind: Can we fix it?

THE RECENT CHANGE in global attitudes towards the challenges facing humanity at this juncture in our history is close to staggering. Almost overnight, we have become surrounded by an international community of global warming converts sprouting the gospel of the green revolution as though they had invented it themselves. As long as the message is finally getting through and stimulating much needed change in the way we live our lives and conduct our affairs, this is good news. There is no time for the luxury of “I told you so!” Social tipping points have their own time in coming.
