According to Kabelo Makwane, Managing Executive: Cloud, Hosting and Security at Vodacom Business, lingering uncertainties can be attributed to several existing misnomers in the market and perceptions about cloud, saying some perceptions are borne out of apprehensions regarding vendor lock-in on cloud platforms, while others come from a lack of clarity on policy around the use of cloud technologies.
He says there is still the need to demystify cloud for public sector clients, as well as a responsibility to provide policy clarity – which should be driven by all public sector agencies and departments tasked with policy formulation and dissemination.
