The news business is booming in South Africa. Despite statistics that point towards a marked decline in national newspaper and magazine circulation, many publications are committing significant resources to the promotion of their online platforms.
It’s easy to understand why. According to the Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC), newspaper circulation figures for the third quarter of 2013 dropped by 10.5 percent year-on-year to 3.68 million physical copies (down from 4.1 million in 2012).
