Heading for more blackouts?

While SA faces a power crisis, energy efficiency is becoming easier to sell. IT vendors are taking advantage of this and one is even using the Central Energy Fund itself as a guinea pig.

Peak electricity demand has outpaced SA`s economic growth, having risen by 13.8 percent from 2001 to the present 34 807MW in 2006.

This has been compounded by under-investment in power infrastructure by the state-owned monopoly supplier.
