Startups finally focus on Africa
The international route most travelled by many South African startups was into the US or Europe. Things are changing.

Flush with cash amid a venture capital (VC) boom, South African tech startups are expanding into the rest of Africa like never before. Last year, Rahul Jain’s fintech Peach Payments opened an office in Mauritius, attracted by perks such as easy registration, low taxation and the ease of getting money in and out of the island country.
“We are thrilled with our early progress and can’t wait for what 2022 will bring,” says Jain, whose startup also has offices in Kenya and South Africa.
