Aiming high

It’s time for the Black IT Forum to live up to industry’s perceptions of what it can achieve, says outgoing chairman Mthunzi Mdwaba.

The Black IT Forum (BITF) should aim high, leverage its existing partnerships, implement visible programs and increase the participation of its members. Speaking at the organisation’s annual general meeting, where a new executive committee was elected, outgoing chairman Mthunzi Mdwaba called for greater participation and ownership within the organisation.

“We need to get our act together and [adjust] our strengths to be in line with the perceptions people have. It’s a good problem to have, for people to have a big view of you. Because it’s up to you to climb up and get yourself there. As opposed to the other way around, where you are huge, but no one quite recognises you,” he said.
