Doreen Mokoena is a successful entrepreneur running a growing business – CyberSec Clinique – in the competitive field of security consulting. Her journey into this world, however, was not a straightforward one; instead, hers is a story of unusual inspiration and the power of walking consistently towards a goal.

At school, Mokoena initially wanted to study forensic pathology, and even pre-registered for related courses at the then-Medunsa, which was later merged with the University of Limpopo. In the lead-up to enrolling, however, Mokoena got hooked on the TV show Criminal Minds. She says she watched seasons and seasons of the show in weeks – and one character started a whole new career dream for her.
