It`s not every day that part of a company`s business model focuses on giving back to the community. But ZOK Cellular has empowering previously disadvantaged people and areas down to an art.

ZOK Cellular was born as a cellular product, introduced by Blue Label Telecoms when the company was looking to present an upliftment programme based on its success in the pre-paid market. The Levy brothers (and Blue Label founders) Brett and Mark were looking for a way to give something back to the community.

After asking themselves with whom they should join forces, the duo approached the ZCC Church and soccer teams Orlando Pirates and Kaiser Chiefs. The first letter of each of these organisations gave the Levy brothers the idea for the name ZOK.
