So, who caved?

Isn’t it ironic when someone turns around and does exactly what they swore up and down they would never do?

05 May 2009

I am referring to the appointment of Pinky Moholi as MD of Telkom SA. The former chief of sales and marketing at Telkom walked out of the state enterprise in 2005 because a drastic change in the reporting structure left her reporting to Reuben September, whom she felt was her equal. In her books, this was an effective demotion and she would not have any of it. A wounded Moholi was rumoured to be talking about taking the fixed line giant to court over this bad treatment but it never happened.

She then joined Nedbank in a high-profile marketing role that saw the financial institution sing her praises. Her surprise move back to Telkom sees her going back to report to the same September she vowed she would never report to. My guess is some concessions had to be made by both Telkom and Moholi.
