Almost 10 years ago, I wrote a short scenario, designed to provoke divergent thinking about the future. The scenario at hand was a fictional newspaper headline from the year 2030 that described how activists and citizens were shocked that governments were actively promoting – not just permitting – euthanasia as the “right” and responsible thing to do before you become a burden on society. At the time, my provocation was exactly that, a fiction.

But in the year 2023, my speculative scenario has become reality.
