Apple launches smartphone attack

A few months ago, Samsung wowed smartphone users across the world with the launch of the Galaxy S3. But then Apple upped the ante with its recently launched iPhone 5. To rub it in, the company announced it had received over two million pre-orders in just 24 hours. This beats Apple’s previous record for the 4S of a million pre-orders in the first day. There are mixed feelings on how the phone will sell, with Apple’s die-hard fans saying it’s the best phone yet, and everyone else saying it’s just a longer version of the iPhone 4S. We’ll have to wait and see.

Apple iPhone 5 – An assault on the smartphone market

Once again, Apple has raised the bar with the recent launch of the iPhone 5. Numerous jokes have been making the rounds about it just being longer, and although it is longer than its predecessors, there are quite a few new features bolted on as well. The most noticeable difference is the larger screen, which is now four inches long, half an inch longer than that of the 4S. The screen still offers a clear Retina display with a maximum resolution of 640 x 1 136 pixels, and pixel dimension of 326 pixels per inch. The phone, which uses Apple’s A6 processor, comes with 1GB of RAM and features Apple’s version of Google Maps, and better Twitter and Facebook integration. The iPhone 5 is available in 16GB, 32GB or 64GB configurations.
