Bradley Sacks and a few of his friends took an unusual step when they wanted to create an investment vehicle that would tap into growth areas in the South African economy.

They created the company, Capital Appreciation, listed it on the JSE, went looking for funders and raised about R1 billion in October 2015. Only after they did this, did they start looking for acquisition targets.
