Considering Colo

Colocation datacentres offer economies of scale and will almost certainly do a better job than a private datacentre. What’s not to like?

IT organisations in every business and in the public sector are expected to deliver efficiencies for their businesses, and cloud adoption is an important consideration. Whether it’s public or private, or a hybrid mix of the two, colocation datacentres offer a compelling business model.

They offer public cloud onramps, and are able to offer much better uptime, efficiencies and security than just about any private datacentre. Still, there are some complexities to ponder, such as cost and whether applications are ready to move to the cloud. Brainstorm and Open Access Data Centres, which is part of the West Indian Ocean Cable Company (WIOCC), gathered some IT executives to hear their views.
