Rupert Murdoch better hope Google doesn’t call his bluff. The grumpy old men of old media still don’t get the web.

Rupert Murdoch, head of News Corporation, ably assisted by Tom Curley, chairman of the Associated Press, and Gavin O’Reilly, CEO of Independent News and Media, has blasted search engines for “co-opting” their content.

“The philistine phase of the digital age is almost over,” said Murdoch last month in Beijing. “The aggregators and plagiarists will soon have to pay a price for the co-opting of our content.”
