You’re protecting your lawn from brain-eating zombies using…plants. The soundtrack and script are well-designed, with light hilarity, and the gameplay is pure tower defence (TD) strategy – a winning combination that netted PopCap Games, the creators of Plants vs Zombies, several awards and nominations.

The game was downloaded more than 500 million times, a fact that played no small role in EA Games purchasing the studio for $750 million and its subsequent launch of Plants vs Zombies 2 – a sturdier version that was money-hungry, buggy and filled with ads, but still saw 200 million downloads.
