HP shows clever usage of power

At this year’s HP Influencer Summit held in Shanghai, China, it was clear that HP meant business in the consumer space. Although there was no mention of tablets, the company has made some real headway with its ultrabooks, printers and all-in-one devices. Two products that stood out from the rest were the Officejet 150 Mobile All-In-One printer, and HP t410 AIO Smart Zero Client. Both these devices show how power can be used more effectively and efficiently, and also give us a glimpse of what can be expected in the future.

HP t410 AIO Smart Zero Client – Uses no more power than a light bulb

Another first for HP, announced at the Global Influencer Summit, is the HP t410 AIO Smart Zero Client, which is neither a desktop PC nor an LCD monitor. Instead, it’s regarded as a thin client, but with one major difference – it is powered by one cable and it’s not a standard power cord. The t410 All-In-One Smart Zero Client gets all of its power – all 13 watts – from a standard network cable, taking Power over Ethernet (PoE) to new heights. Once connected to a network hub or router, the t410 will automatically detect the virtualisation environment and then program itself to work on that network. According to HP, because of its ease of use and low power consumption, the t410 will fit in well in power-constrained places such as schools in emerging markets.
