Intel`s “unfair business practice” a storm in a teacup

Intel was recently found to be skewing its rebate programmes to benefit Japanese computer manufacturers who base their product ranges almost entirely on Intel hardware.

It also seemed to give larger amounts of market development funding to these “most loyal” customers.

Last month, AMD began making noise about its moral victory against Intel in the Japanese market. It cited the Japanese Fair Trade Commission`s (JFTC) recommendation to Intel to stop these practices as the foundation for more governments to look into Intel`s business practices in their respective countries.

But Gartner says that a minuscule amount of computer hardware used worldwide is manufactured in Japan.
