It’s that time of year when everyone will stare into their crystal balls and divine the trends for 2016. This annual prediction marathon is an open game, where analysts, columnists and anyone with an eye on the future wager on the technology coming toward us. But as author Warren Ellis proclaimed, the prediction game is an easy space in which to look like an idiot and every year leaves a trail of outcomes that didn’t materialise.
