OS/2 nearing retirement
December 2006 marks the official retirement of IBM`s support for OS/2.

Few will remember computing in 1985 – the year that IBM and Microsoft committed to joint operating system development. Fewer still will have used the fruits of that venture, in the form of OS/2, on their computers. But everyone will have come into contact with it in some form – most likely as the operating system powering an ATM. An operating system that will, next year, be officially retired once and for all by IBM.
