In our global networked economy, networking should be more closely linked to business needs, applications and infrastructure than ever before. Of course, it is the strides made in networking technology over the last few years that have made convergence possible. Yet the intrinsically physical nature of networking has meant a clear evolutionary path, as networks must interact with each other. The hard physicality of cables and routers do not really allow for out-and-out revolution.
