Putting your best foot forward

It’s not just the big corporations that contribute to global warming.

05 March 2009

The cumulative effect of the carbon footprint produced by billions of people living on planet Earth creates a substantial impact. Making a difference starts with our taking responsibility for our own actions.

FOR THE MOST PART, the mention of global warming conjures up images of big corporations with giant factory chimneys billowing forth clouds of dark smoke and noxious gasses, or forests being cut down for the purpose of turning a profit. While it’s true that they carry a significant portion of the blame for turning up the heat, we as individuals also play a small, but very important supporting role in the eco-drama unfolding around us.

Although we cannot undo decades of damage to Earth’s fragile ecosystem, by minimising our own carbon footprint we can at least attempt to create a little breathing space for nature’s balances to take effect without wiping us off the face of the planet in the process.
