For years, I was with Cell C for voice, and iBurst for data. I felt superior because those of us who’d been with iBurst since beta days got to pay more than the newbies. I didn’t miss 3G, because Cell C customers only know it from the movies. All my geek friends kept telling me to switch to Vodacom.

When I moved to a small town recently, I took the opportunity. I gave Vodacom permission for a monthly four-digit raid on my bank account, in payment of a lah-di-dah postpaid contract.
