Competition for Africa
Pay-TV provider MultiChoice is facing a growing challenge both within South Africa and beyond its borders.

Musician Bruce Springsteen once wrote about "57 channels and nothing on", a sentiment that can arguably no longer be applied to South African viewing habits; this is following the announcement in September 2007 that the regulator Icasa had licensed five pay-TV stations.
Multichoice Africa may be the incumbent in the broadcast domain - with over 20 years' experience in this country - but the four new licensees will offer varying degrees of competition to this dominant position.
