Africa has the youngest population in the world, with 70% of sub-Saharan Africa under the age of 30. Notably, by 2035 there will be more young Africans entering the workforce each year than in the rest of the world combined.

It is also this youthful population that will see the continent become a major force in the coming years, and leading ICT distributor, DCC Technologies is positioning itself to form part of this all important journey.

DCC Technologies recognises the critical role it can play in shaping the continent’s future workforce. “Africa has the biggest opportunity in terms of education and digital growth,” explains Harris. “We sell digital enablement through laptops and PCs, but also address the immediate needs of education through print solutions.”

The company’s strategy is twofold: meet the current demand for print technologies, particularly in the education sector, while simultaneously driving digital innovation. For example, DCC Technologies distributes technology that offers cost-effective, reliable printing solutions—a crucial tool for schools and universities across the continent.

But DCC’s vision extends beyond print. The company is also exploring how artificial intelligence (AI) can transform education in Africa and is committed to providing the tools needed to bridge the digital divide.

“Our strategic goal for the next five years is to acknowledge that we play an important role in providing solutions to the continent’s immediate challenges while also accelerating digital growth. Our youthful continent is the future, and DCC Technologies is proud to play a role in shaping it,” concludes Harris.

The above also underscores the company’s continued evolution which has seen its first year marked with exciting changes and prospects for the future. Formerly known as Drive Control Corporation (DCC), it was acquired by a new executive management team and Kleoss Capital, a Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) private equity firm in October 2024.

Now operating as DCC Technologies and led by new CEO, Carlos Ferreira, and Andrew Harris, sales director, the ICT distributor has prioritised stability while embracing innovation and growth.

“The key was to stabilise the environment and ensure continuity of business. This transition has enabled us to build on the company’s 35-year foundation while introducing new strategies to propel the business forward,” says Harris.

Milestones abound

DCC Technologies has during this first year launched a B2B e-commerce platform, marking a new phase of digital enablement for its partners. The platform off ers greater visibility of stock and pricing, while also giving resellers the ability to self-service, significantly improving turnaround times.

The distributor has also continued to grow its presence across the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region. “We have invested in regional offices and centralised business operations to improve stock management and bidding processes. These eff orts have resulted in strong growth and profitability, despite challenges such as fluctuating foreign exchange rates,” explains Harris.

DCC’s strategy in the SADC region includes a focus on providing a diverse range of products. “We have a big focus on managing the breadth of product into that market, giving us credibility as a multi-product, multifaceted distributor,” says Harris.

This, combined with a healthy reseller base and expanded credit lines, positions DCC Technologies as a trusted partner for businesses across the region.
