The transparency and inclusivity of OSS meant this was a kind of liberation for the masses of coders that were still being excluded from the intellectual and commercial capital generated by the act of writing software. And it gave millions of customers the opportunity to reward broad-based, local coding efforts, as opposed to only those of a privileged club of global players. But now comes the difficult part – how to go about crossing the floor to the software that makes South African cents?
