Fail fast, fail often is good advice for entrepreneurs, but not so much for surgeons.

There was a time when the language around tech companies of all kinds was focused on importing the lessons from startups into established businesses, when everyone was striving to innovate everything, and the TED talks were all about the power of failure, agility, and pivoting.

We haven’t entirely left that era behind. But those buzzwords and aphorisms have slipped into cliché by now, and we’re all so attuned to them that we’re tuning them out.
