IT in government In the first two months since her appointment as Minister of Home Affairs, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma has earned a reputation for being honest, direct and having a grasp of the gravity of the problems she inherited in her new post. The minister, in her budget address and subsequent interviews, has referred to her work as a ‘marathon’, an ‘uphill battle’, a ‘journey which offers no quick or easy solutions’.
“The transformation of the department will not happen overnight. It started a couple of years ago, and it will take several more years to complete. This has to encompass people, processes, policy, technology and legislation if need be. Focusing on one area without the others will be futile,” she states.
