Natalie Miller interned at CNN and remembers meeting some famous newscasters, but her intended path as a broadcast journalist changed course when she witnessed firsthand the aftermath of Turkey’s 1998 earthquake. She knew then that she wanted to do meaningful work in different countries and among different cultures. She ran and raised funds for the Operation Smile regional hub in South Africa for 12 years. “Working with Operation Smile for over a decade, I saw the positive impact of hard work,” she says.
US born, Miller has now spent two decades in South Africa, and has a South African husband and two children, one adopted from the Eastern Cape. She won this year’s Wired4Women Tech Innovator Award, and has an MBA focused on social entrepreneurship from the Saïd Business School at Oxford University.
